luxury-coach-travel-to-theme-parksIt’s great when the summer is here. The kids are off school, and you can enjoy a lot of time together as a family. But once you’ve enjoyed your holiday in the sun, you still have to keep the children entertained and occupied for the other three or four weeks where they don’t have to worry about getting up early and getting their homework done. That means plenty of day trips.

Theme parks are an outing everyone in the family will love. There are plenty of great theme parks all over the UK; we list a few of them below. They all make for great places to visit, and you’ll share lots of great memories over the years to come.

To make the day extra special, unburden either yourself from the task of driving by making your way to the park via a coach. The UK’s roads are busy at the best of times, and sunny days draw traffic to theme parks, so it makes sense to avoid the scrum. If you’ve spent two hours battling the roads, you’ll be exhausted before you begin, but a coach journey allows you to relax and get into the spirit of the day.

Here are a few of our favourite theme park destinations.

Alton Towers, Staffordshire

The UK’s most famous theme park has undergone a face-lift in recent years to make it more open-plan and less crowded. Sadly, the famous ‘Corkscrew’ ride is no more, but there are plenty of other rides than will render your knuckles a much more whiter shade of pale. Check out the Rita – Queen of Speed ride. It takes you from 0 to 100kph in just over two seconds.

Pleasure Beach Blackpool, Lancashire

This theme park has been around since 1896, and is the most visited attraction in the UK. You’ll can see the huge rollercoaster, ‘The Big One’, from miles away. Infusion will send you spinning through no less than five loop-the-loops. Blackpool is a great destination for a coach trip; there’s plenty to do in a relatively compact area, so the kids won’t have to walk far.

Chessington World of Adventures, near London

This world of thrills and spills has ten different ‘lands’ for you to explore, including Transylvania and Land of the Dragons. Check out ‘Rameses’ Revenge’ in the Forbidden Kingdom which will leaving you giddy, and very probably soaking wet. Its proximity to London makes it one of our favourite coach trips.

Legoland, Windsor

This theme park is perfect if you have younger children, as they can marvel at all the miniature Lego models including Wembley Stadium and most of London. There are also 50 interactive rides that you and the smaller members of your family can enjoy. Windsor is easy to reach from the south of England and can be incorporated into a longer trip with ease.
