Now that we’re finally at the end of Winter, it’s time to start making some travel plans, whether that’s a Eurostar trip away or even just exploring some of the gems on offer in the UK’s capital. Springtime in London is one of the best times to visit with plenty to do. Why not plan the perfect day out by hiring a coach or minibus to take you there and back, especially if organising some fun as a group or family?
Here are some ideas for things to do in London this spring.
Picnics in the Park
After so many months cooped up indoors, having a picnic out in the sunshine is one of the best ways to celebrate the start of Springtime while enjoying London’s beautiful parks. Some of the most popular spots include Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Hyde Park, Richmond Park, Brockwell Park and even Kew Gardens if you’d like to explore the botanical collections as well.
You may associate boat travel with a cruise across the seas, but why not take a trip along the River Thames? This is a great way to see London and its wonderful skyline. There are boats available which offer dining experiences at the same time, whether that’s dinner under the stars or an afternoon tea as you float along and take in landmarks such as the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and London Bridge. For those looking for more of a thrill, book onto RIB (rigid inflatable boat) tour which speeds under the capital’s most famous bridges.
There’s always an abundance of sporting events happening across the capital, and one of the best ones to go and see is the London Marathon. Starting at set points in Blackheath and ending along the Mall alongside St James’s Park, join the thousands of spectators along the streets, including near some of the city’s top landmarks. It’s an inspiring, feel-good day that raises a lot of money for worthy causes.
Outdoor Entertainment & Festivals
One of the greatest parts about Springtime is enjoying the outdoors, and London has a lot of events taking place in the open air each year. To see some gorgeous displays, the Chelsea Flower Show in May always delivers. You could also visit the Shakespeare’s Globe or the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park to see some of the plays featuring in their Summer line-ups. For the music lovers out there, there are tonnes of outdoor concerts to get tickets to, including All Points East Festival in Victoria Park and the Gala Festival in Peckham Rye Park, both of which usually take place in May.
